Comfortable holiday homes and a natural campsite in Portugal
Quinta do Retiro is a child friendly small-scale holiday resort in Central Portugal with four beautiful holiday homes and a small charming natural campsite. There are also two fully equipped family rental tents. The beautifully landscaped ecological pool makes us unique according to our guests. In summer there are always several families with children of all ages. So small enough to be too small, but large enough so children can link up with other children.
Green oasis with rippling riverlet
The quinta of eight hectares is located in a secluded little valley with a beautiful terraced landscape. The holiday homes and the campsite are both located on a private part of the quinta as there is plenty of room. The atmosphere is rustic, varied and green with many fruit trees, olives and grapevines. A small riverlet with rockeries and two small waterfalls flows through the grounds.
Relax and dream away in the nature of Central Portugal
Quinta do Retiro is situated just outside the village near Covas Tábua and Oliveira do Hospital in the Dão wine region (Central Portugal). This region lies between the mountains of Serra da Estrela National Park (with the Torre as the highest mountain in Portugal), the Serra Açor and the Serra Caramulo. Two major rivers running are running throw the area, the Rio Mondego and Rio Alva with its many beautiful river beaches. There certainly is no mass tourism. The area is particularly popular with nature lovers, hikers and cyclists who love peace, quietness and authentic villages with a very friendly population.
A place to withdraw
“Retiro” means in Portuguese “a place to withdraw to” and this is precisely what we wish to offer to our guests during their stay with us; a place where you can relax and escape from the stresses of everyday life. All the while enjoying what this captivating area of Portugal can offer to make your stay something to remember and return to time and again.
